Pendragon to Stand at Brisbane Meadow

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 22
Classy stakes-winning mare Miss Gunpowder was sold for $700,000 at the recent Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale and gets her chance for Group I success this Saturday in the Tatts Tiara putting her versatile sire Pendragon firmly in the spotlight.

A top class performer in the stable of the late Bart Cummings for Dato Tan Chin Nam, Pendragon was retired to Think Big Stud on the Southern Highlands of NSW.

He has proven a highly reliable source of winners with 62 winners from 120 starters giving him a desirable 51.7% winner to runner ratio.

Stakes performers The Peak, Dragon Flyer and Abba have all made their mark along with quality metropolitan winners such as Killarney Kid and Blazing Dragon, but his best offspring by far has been Miss Gunpowder.

Purchased as an Inglis Classic yearling from the Think Big Stud draft for $60,000, Miss Gunpowder showed immediate talent in the Phillip Stokes stable in Adelaide winning four of her first five starts including the Group II MRC Guineas Prelude.

Miss Gunpowder - Grant CourtneySold earlier this month for $700,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale to a syndicate of Vinery Stud partners, Miss Gunpowder returned to top form with a last start Listed victory at Doomben.

Prepared by the Hayes / Dabernig training partnership, Miss Gunpowder heads into the Group I BRC Tatts Tiara (1400m) cherry ripe in condition and has Luke Nolen to ride from barrier seven.

Last year Dato Tan Chin Nam made the decision to scale back his breeding and racing operation with the result that Pendragon will stand this spring at nearby Brisbane Meadow at Bungonia in partnership with Think Big Stud.

A striking individual that stamps many of his progeny with his eye-catching good looks, Pendragon is priced at $5,500.

Brisbane Meadow can provide all your breeding needs including foaling down, weanling and yearling preparation etc and are currently offering breeders a great deal on agistment for your mare if booked in to PENDRAGON before July 31st.
