Denise
Martin's Star Thoroughbreds have tasted success at Group I level with Foxwedge
filly Foxplay this season and have another nice filly by the in-form Newgate
Farm stallion.
Prepared by Chris Waller, three year-old filly Noire opened her account at
Canterbury back in April and found her way back to the winner's circle on
Wednesday.
Ridden forward by Kerrin McEvoy from an outside gate, Noire was up on the pace
and kicked strongly to the line to win the 1250 metre benchmark 67 event by a
head in a tight tussle.
A $135,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Star from the Highgrove Stud draft, Noire
has two wins and two seconds from five starts with prizemoney topping $80,000.
She is a half-sister to stakes-placed Global Dream, Maraatib and Valoura being the
seventh winner from good producer Valadon, a half-sister to Group II winners
Timbourina and Media.
Noire continues a hot run for Foxwedge, who has opened up a lead on his rivals
in the battle to be leading Australian Second Crop Sire.
The Group I winning son of Fastnet Rock stands at a fee of $22,000 at Newgate
Farm this spring.
