A
day after hosting an open day at his Warwick Farm stables, David Pfieffer
produced a smart two year-old winner at Goulburn by champion sire Fastnet Rock.
Cape Wickham was unplaced when making his debut in the Magic Millions Wyong 2YO
Classic last year, but showed the benefit of a good break when scoring a
stylish victory over 1300 metres at his second run back from a spell.
He travelled just off the leaders for Corey Brown and surged to the line to win
by the best part of a length.
A $250,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Coolmore draft for his trainer,
Cape Wickham is a three-quarter brother to stakes-winner Superfly and is the
fifth winner from stakes-winner Allez France.
He is the 13th Australian two year-old winner this season for
Fastnet rock, who has had a great year with his juveniles who include Group I
winner Catchy and Group and stakes-winners Shoals, Formality and Merchant Navy.
