Rising Star Filly Adds Merit to Newgate Farm Investment

Tara Madgwick - Sunday June 11
An explosive debut win at Leopardstown last week for blue-blooded two year-old filly September (Deep Impact x Peeping Fawn) has the potential to bring a new chapter of success to one of the world's best female families that is a great favourite here in Australia.

Joining many of the world's biggest breeders, Coolmore have sent a handful of mares to Japanese sire sensation Deep Impact in recent years including outstanding Danehill mare Peeping Fawn, the Champion European 3YO Filly of 2007.

Her first mating produced the winning colt Wisconsin, now a three year-old,  and the second has resulted in September.

In a hot seven furlong maiden featuring a host of well-bred fillies, September was in a class of her own when bolting away to win by more than five lengths earning TDN Rising Star status.

Her apparent huge potential adds to the worth of two high profile acquisitions in the US last year for SF Bloodstock and Newgate Farm.

The partnership purchased two sisters to Peeping Fawn at the 2016 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale paying $810,000 for a four year-old Fastnet Rock mare called Unbelievable and $650,000 for a weanling filly by War Front.

The Fastnet Rock mare is now back in Australia and booked to visit Newgate Farm's Golden Slipper winner Capitalist, while the War Front filly is to be re-offered as a yearling at either Keeneland September or Saratoga.

Peeping Fawn and her sisters are from Maryinsky, a Group I placed daughter of Kentucky Oaks winner Blush with Pride from Best in Show, who has established a highly successful branch of her dynasty in Australia through her grand-daughter Dancing Show (USA), the dam of Shantha's Choice.

The dam of Group I winners Redoute's Choice, Manhattan Rain and Platinum Scissors, not to mention Group III winner Sliding Cube and stakes-winner Echoes of Heaven, Shantha's Choice lays claim to being one of the all-time great Australian broodmares.
