Aussie Juvenile Stakes Success in South Africa

Tara Madgwick - Sunday June 11
Winning the Listed Gatecrasher Stakes at Greyville in South Africa on Saturday was two year-old Harbour Watch (IRE) colt Trojan Harbour, who comes from the famed Dancing Show (USA) family.

Prepared by Gareth van Zyl, Trojan Harbour made it two wins from four starts when he dashed clear to win the 1400 metre feature by a length and a quarter.

Trojan Harbour as a yearlingA $50,000 Magic Millions purchase for World Wide Bloodstock from the Emirates Park draft, Trojan Harbour is the first winner for Salma, an Encosta de Lago half-sister to Big Time from the family of Emirates Park's Group I winner and sire Al Maher.

This is the Dancing Show family that has also given us champion sire Redoute's Choice and numerous Group I winners including this year's Golden Slipper sire Manhattan Rain.

Salma has not had a living foal since Trojan Harbour, but was covered last spring by I am Invincible.

Trojan Harbour is the third stakes-winner for Acclamation's Group II winning son Harbour Watch (IRE), who shuttled to Emirates Park for two seasons.

At Kenilworth in South Africa another Aussie bred two year-old found the winner's list with Star Witness filly Public Prosecutor opening her account with a commanding four and half length win as a short priced favourite over 1000 metres at her second start.

Trained by Candice Bass-Robinson, Public Prosecutor was a $120,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Golden Grove Stud draft for Heritage Bloodstock.

Bred by Golden Grove, she is the first foal of South African Group I winner Emblem of Liberty (SAfr), whose second foal, a filly by Shamus Award made $100,000 at Inglis Premier this year.

Sadly for Golden Grove Stud, Emblem of Liberty died last year and her last foal is a weanling colt, also by Shamus Award.
