out an easy winner at Vaal in South Africa on Thursday was blue-blooded Redoute's
Choice colt Hakeem, a three-quarter brother-in-blood to not one, but two Group
I winners.
Second on debut last month, the Mike de Kock trained three year-old was sent
out favourite for the 1400 metre maiden and bolted in to score by five and a
quarter lengths.
A $500,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Milburn Creek draft for Shadwell,
Hakeem was bred by Makybe and is the first winner for Life in a Metro, a
winning three-quarter sister to Redoute's Choice's two Oaks winning daughters
Absolutely and Abbey Marie.
Life in a Metro has a weanling filly by Deep Field and was covered last spring
by Golden Slipper winner Vancouver.
