Mares in Foal to Vancouver and Pride of Dubai Add Interest

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday May 31
Race fillies and mares dominated the top end of the market during the first session of the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale on Tuesday, but the handful of mares offered in foal to Coolmore young guns Vancouver and Pride of Dubai attracted keen competition.

Four mares were sold with a positive test to Medaglia D'Oro's Golden Slipper winning son Vancouver headed by Royal Amati, who made $425,000 for Amarina Farm when knocked down to Victorian based buyers Hilldene.

A minor metropolitan winner by Danehill Dancer (IRE), Royal Amati comes from the family of 2016 European Horse of the Year Minding.

Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock paid $300,000 for the Widden Stud consigned stakes-placed Hussonet (USA) mare Red Dress Marley, a stakes-placed half-sister to Group I winner Snitzerland and Group II winner Sooboog.

Just one mare was offered in foal to Street Cry's dual Group I winning son Pride of Dubai on Tuesday and she made $320,000 for Edinburgh Park when snapped up by UK based agent Anthony Penfold.

Rubimill is a full sister to Group III winner Millrich, the dam of recent Group I winner Redzel. Already the dam of stakes-winner El Roca, she is also the dam of a Fastnet Rock weanling colt that made $400,000 at the National Weanling Sale last week.

Vancouver is priced this year at $49,500 and Pride of Dubai at $44,000.
