Returning
to Arrowfield Stud this spring after being absent last year, Kentucky Derby and
Dubai World Cup winner Animal Kingdom (USA) sired his fifth winner on
Thursday with a Gosford victory for Barbary.
Prepared by Gerald Ryan, Barbary was having his fourth start and scored a half
head win in the 1600 metre maiden as favourite.
A $75,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Segenhoe draft for Platinum Park,
Barbary runs for Gerald Ryan and Damion Flower.
He is a half-brother to Macau stakes-winner Doctor Zhivago and is the fifth
winner for Amatista, a half-sister by Scenic (IRE) to Group I winner Azzurro.
With five winners on the board headed by stakes-placed Lord Cecil - 1 in the USA - Animal Kingdom stands at a fee of $27,500 this year which is his lowest fee to
date and with expectation his progeny will improve at three, he may be a value
choice among his peers.
