Pencarrow Welcomes Dominic Corban as Yearling Manager

Media Release - Friday May 19
Newly appointed Yearling Manager, Dominic Corban, has arrived at Pencarrow with a wealth of experience and knowledge having previously worked at Sir Patrick Hogan's Cambridge Stud for more than ten years, three as yearling manager, and more recently also as yearling manager at New South Wales-based Newgate Farm.

Hamilton-bred Corban was the 2010 recipient of the Sunline Management Scholarship gaining valuable international experience at Taylor Made in Kentucky and Cheverley Park Stud in Newmarket.

Keen to return to New Zealand, "the opportunity to work with Sir Peter Vela and Leon Casey at Pencarrow was one I simply couldn't miss," said Corban.

"Along with superb facilities, Pencarrow has one of the strongest blue blood broodmare bands in New Zealand. And I look forward to preparing my first draft of Pencarrow yearlings for the Sales at Karaka in January."

The addition of Corban to the team at Pencarrow, under the stewardship of Stud Master Leon Casey, sees Pencarrow move to a new era in Yearling preparation following the recent completion of a two-year major expansion project which saw Pencarrow acquire and develop an additional farm near Matamata.

"We're delighted to have Dominic join the team here", said Casey.

"He will be an asset to the operation, his international experience and knowledge – particularly of Australian sires and international customers will be invaluable".

Pencarrow Stud has 50 foals at foot by leading sires Snitzel, Fast Net Rock, Atlante, Savabeel, Holy Roman Emperor, Tavistock, Pins, Dundeel and Darci Brahma to name a few.
