The
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable delivered our 'One to Watch' on Thursday with
a resounding debut victory at Hawkesbury for a son of the former Waterhouse trained
Golden Slipper winner Sebring.
Three year-old colt Penske was a short priced favourite for the 1000 metre
maiden and after jumping brilliantly from gate one set up a commanding early
lead.
Held together in the lead by Brenton Avdulla, Penske turned for home more than
three lengths in front and maintained his margin to win in a brisk 56.62
seconds.
Penske was a $150,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Gai Waterhouse/ Julian
Blaxland from the Yarraman Park draft and was bred by David Bentata.
He is the first winner for Princess Natural, a half-sister by Danehill Dancer
(IRE) to stakes-winner Zizou from the family of leading sire Not a Single
Doubt.
Princess Natural is due to foal to another of the Widden sires in Zoustar this
spring.
