Newhaven
Park tasted success at Newcastle on Saturday with their promising homebred
Redoute's Choice filly Hittite, whose two year-old full sister Mintha gained
some valuable Black Type in Adelaide.
Now with James Cummings after initially starting her career with Chris Waller,
three year-old Hittite was strong to the line to win the 1400 metre maiden by a
neck at her second run back from a spell.
Hittite is the third winner for Encosta de Lago mare Hades, whose two year-old
daughter Mintha added some Black Type to the family when finishing third in the
Listed SAJC Queen Adelaide Stakes on Saturday.
Also by Redoute's Choice, Mintha was sold at Magic Millions for $460,000 to
McEvoy Mitchell Racing and has shown great promise in placing at her only two
starts to date.
A winning daughter of champion 2YO Hasna, Hades was bought as a yearling by
Newhaven Park at Inglis Easter back in 2007 for $1.5 million.
A handy metropolitan winner on the track, she quickly made her mark at stud for
Newhaven Park when producing a $1million colt by Redoute's Choice to top the
2014 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Hades has not produced a foal since Mintha, but is currently in foal to
Choisir, who enjoyed a stakes double at the Gold Coast on Saturday with Taking
Aim and Religify.
