Last
year's Champion Australian First Season Sire Smart Missile might be chasing the current division leaders Foxwedge and So You Think in terms of
earnings, but he has them covered by winners after posting his 50thof the season on Thursday.
The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained filly Flame of Love carried the
familiar Darby Racing colours to victory at her fourth start.
She was resuming from a spell in the 1100 metre maiden and scored a nose win to
the great delight of her big team of owners.
Flame of Love was a $70,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Darby Racing from the
Arrowfield draft and is a half-sister to Japanese Group III winner Fireflaught
and Australian Group III winner Ocean Embers.
She is the fifth winner from Burningwood (USA), who produced another filly by Smart
Missile last spring.
Smart Missile stands at Arrowfield Stud at a fee of $22,000.
