One to Watch – Kembla

This blue-blooded Foxwedge filly from the family of $7million earner Criterion was an easy pick as the One to Watch on Tuesday.

Prepared by Chris Waller, Commonwealth improved sharply at her third race start and coming off an 11 week freshen up.

She travelled just behind the leaders for Hugh Bowman from gate two and scored a head win in the 1000 metre maiden.

A $250,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Yarraman Park draft, Commonwealth runs in the brown and white colours of the Henderson family and partners.

Bred by Yarraman Park and partners, she is the first winner for Our Pride and Joy, a half-sister by Canny Lad to four-time Group I winner Criterion, Group II winner Varenna Miss, Group III winner Comin' Through and stakes-winner Silently.

Our Pride and Joy is now with China Horse Club and produced a colt by Newgate Farm's Australian Horse of the Year Dissident last spring.

Commonwealth is the 38^th Australian winner for Foxwedge, who leads the Australian Second Season Sires division by a narrow margin over So You Think.

Foxwedge stands at a fee of $22,000 at Newgate Farm this spring.
