Firmer
footing brought out the best in this half-brother to international Group I
winner Green Birdie, who opened his account at Wyong on Thursday.
Prepared by Gerald Ryan, Foxwedge three year-old Comfortable struck a good
surface for the first time and responded with a stylish win.
An unlucky third on debut last month, Comfortable floundered on a heavy track
at his most recent outing before showing his true form today.
Sent out favourite, he enjoyed the run of the race for Tim Clark and found the
line gamely to win the 1300 metre maiden by three parts of a length.
A $140,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Cressfield draft for David Raphael,
Comfortable is a half-brother to globe-trotting Group I winner Green Birdie.
He is the fifth winner from Mrs Squillionaire, a sister to Group III winner Palia
(the dam of Group I winner and sire Onemorenomore) and stakes-placed Lady Capel
(the dam of Group I winner and sire Casino Prince).
Comfortable continues the winning roll for Newgate Farm's Foxwedge and is his
third winner in the past three days following Petition (Flemington) and Noire
(Canterbury).
