When
Myboycharlie (IRE) gets a good one, he gets a really good one.
The sire of $4.8 million earner Jameka featured overnight in France where his Irish
bred three year-old filly Sistercharlie captured the Group III Prix Penelope at
Saint-Cloud.
Prepared by Henri-Alex Pantall, Sistercharlie charged home from back in the
field to win the 2100 metre contest by a length.
"It was a tactical affair, as they went so slow early on, and I didn't want to
be caught for speed so that's why I made my move forward on the home turn,"
explained winning rider Maxime Guyon.
"She responded very well and quickened nicely in the straight."
Group I goals lie ahead for the promising filly.
"Maxime gave her a good ride, she showed that she hasn't stopped improving so
why not imagine she can improve some more," said Henri-Alex Pantall.
"She's in the [May 14 G1] Prix Saint-Alary [at Deauville] and [June 18 G1] Prix
de Diane [at Chantilly], and we will decide in time if we bring her back for
the Saint-Alary or keep her fresh for the Diane."
Sistercharlie has won three of four starts and is the first winner for Galileo
mare Starlet's Sister, a full sister to Group III winner Leo's Starlet.
She is the 15th stakes-winner worldwide for Myboycharlie, who moves to Bowness
Stud this spring to stand at a fee of $8,800.
