Newgate
Farm's dashing grey shuttler The Factor (USA) sired his fourth stakes-winner in
the US on the weekend with talented colt Cistron taking out the $150,000 Northern
Spur Stakes at Oaklawn Park.
Stakes-placed twice previously at Santa Anita, the John Sadler trained colt
took the 1 and 1/16th mile contest by a length.
A $180,000 Keeneland September purchase, Cistorn has the good record of three
wins and three placings from seven starts and has already won back his purchase
price for connections banking
$180,429 in prizemoney.
Cistron is the best of four winners from Major Allie, a daughter of Group II winner
Nervous Baba.
He is the fourth stakes-winner for The Factor, whose best US progeny are headed
by Group I winning filly Noted and Quoted.
His first Australian bred progeny will race in the new season and have sold for
up to $240,000 at the yearling sales this year with seven selling for $100,000
or more.
The Factor is slated to return to Newgate Farm this spring at a fee of $11,000.
