The
Group I ATC Australian Oaks will come up too quickly for Torryburn Stud
homebred The Pinnacle, but there will be Black Type races in her future judging
by her stylish victory at Newcastle on Wednesday.
An eye-catching maiden winner at Warwick Farm on February 8, The Pinnacle had
not raced for seven weeks coming into this assignment, but the three year-old
filly still proved too strong when powering to the line to win the 1400 metre
contest by a long neck.
"She really should be stepping up in trip, but with the wet weather we've ended
up here, but her class shone through in the end," said Paul Snowden.
"We'll look for Black Type races with her now."
With two wins and two seconds from four starts, The Pinnacle is another
exciting prospect for So You Think, who is the leading Australian Second Crop
Sire.
A half-sister to Group III winner Under the Eiffel and stakes-winner Tower of
Lonhro, The Pinnacle is the sixth winner from stakes-placed Danehill (USA) mare
Spire, who was a winner up to 2400 metres.
Given her pedigree, The Pinnacle should have no trouble with longer journeys as
she progresses through the autumn.
Torryburn Stud bred / sold horses have been on a winning roll of late with
recent wins for Deploy, Private Lounge, Rosti and Red Hearts.
