The
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable don't produce a lot of winners at Geelong,
but this half-sister to Golden Slipper winner Sepoy certainly caught the eye.
A homebred for Emirates Park, three year-old Eavesdropper (USA) filly Necklace
opened her account at her third start when striding clear for a dominant two
and a half length win in the 1300 metre maiden.
Unplaced on debut in July last year, she was spelled immediately after and was
returned with a second at Newcastle before being dispatched to Melbourne.
Necklace is a half-sister to Champion 2YO and 3YO Sprinter Sepoy, who won four
Group I races and nearly $4million in prizemoney as well as Group II winner Mulaazem.
She is the fifth winner from Watchful, a full sister to Group I winner
Camarena, who was famously sold by Darley in 2009 at the Inglis Australian
Easter Broodmare Sale where she was snapped up by Emirates Park for $55,000.
Sepoy came out to win the Golden Slipper in 2011 making Watchful an outstanding
purchase!
Watchful has a two year-old filly by Dream Ahead (USA) called Night Dream that
has been sent to James Cummings and produced a colt last year by I Am
Invincible.
She was covered last spring by Emirates Park's Artie Schiller (USA).
