Impressive
wins for progressive fillies Cassadee and Montoya's Secret at Moonee Valley on
Monday will have their connections thinking Oaks.
The Redoute's Choice x Zabeel cross produced champion filly Samantha Miss and
also improving filly Cassadee, who notched her third win from six starts for
the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.
An easy last start winner at Sandown, Cassadee led all the way and relished the
2040 metres to bolt in by nearly three lengths.
The talented filly carries the colours of George Altomonte's Corumbene Stud,
but is not a homebred having been purchased at the Magic Millions from the
Arrowfield Stud draft by Corumbene for $280,000.
She is a half-sister to stakes-placed Donelle and is the second winner from
Avarice, a Zabeel three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group III winner Our Yangtze
River from the family of Group I winners Riverina Charm, Benfica and Neroli.
Every bit as impressive as Cassadee in winning the next race on the program was
the Leon and Tory Corstens trained High Chaparral (IRE) filly Montoya's Secret.
Montoya's Secret carried 59 kg to a four and a half length win in the 1600
metre contest and has the overall record of two wins and four placings from
nine starts.
A $130,000 NZB Premier purchase for Bahen Bloodstock/ Malua Bloodstock from the
Phoenix Park draft, Montoya's Secret is a half-sister to Group III winning
stayer Delago's Secret from Group I placed Thunder Gulch (USA) mare Divine
Secret.
Cassadee and Montoya's Secret are both entered for the Group I ATC Australian
Oaks (2400m) on April 8.
