Gunnison 3/4 Sister to be Offered at Inglis Easter

Media Release - Sunday March 5

Inglis graduates fill four of the top five positions in TAB betting for the Group 1 Golden Slipper following the feature 2YO races on Saturday.

Wins to Frolic (Group 2 Reisling Stakes) and Gunnison (Group 2 Todman Stakes) in the Randwick juvenile events, and a solid second to long-time Slipper favourite She Will Reign, sees the market dominated by Inglis representatives.

Gunnison wins the TodmanShe Will Reign remains on top of Slipper betting at $3.60, Frolic surged into $11 while the Blue Diamond Stakes quinella of Catchy and Pariah remained steady at $11.

Gunnison (Not A Single Doubt x Colorado Claire)firmed from $101 into $26 but will likely start much shorter should majority owner James Harron decide to push on to the $3.5million event.

"Today was all about trying to see how he lines up against these better horses and he's obviously done that very well,'' Harron said following the victory of Gunnison, an $850,000 Australian Easter Yearling Sale buy from the Arrowfield Stud draft last year.

"But that said, I think we'll just talk to Peter and Paul [Snowden] and the group of owners and see what we do next.

"It's pretty wet out there today so we'll just get through today for now and see how he pulls up before we go locking anything in regarding the Slipper.''

For Michael Freedman, trainer of Reisling winnerFrolic (Husson x Leveller), a decision regarding a Slipper start seems much simpler.

Frolic, a $100,000 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale buy for Blue Sky Bloodstock from Vinery Stud's draft, has won two of her four starts and amassed almost $350,000 already.

"She has had a perfect prep going into the Slipper and now she has gained a start she has a nice two weeks into it.''

The Slipper betting domination comes a week after Inglis graduates filled the trifecta in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield when Catchy beat Pariah and Formality.

The Todman was a fantastic result for Arrowfield, who offered the quinella (Gunnison and Invader) and fourth-placed Showtime.

Arrowfield will offer Gunnison's Snitzel three-quarter sister (Lot 84) at next month's Australian Easter Yearling Sale, the last ever to be held at Newmarket.
