Valuable Win for Sebring Mare

Tara Madgwick - Saturday March 4
A half-sister to this season's Group II winning three year-old Russian Revolution, well-bred Sebring mare Turbo Miss boosted her worth immeasurably with a brave win in the Group III VRC Frances Tressady Stakes at Flemington on Saturday.

Turbo Miss - Grant CourtneyThe Darren Weir trained mare was fit and ready to fire at her third run back from a spell and scored a long neck win over Group I winner Rising Romance in the 1400 metre mares contest.

It was her first attempt at Black type and the win takes her overall record to five wins from 17 starts with prizemoney topping $180,000.

Retained to race by her breeders John Stuart Investments, Turbo Miss is the second stakes-winner and one of four winners from Ballet D'Amour (USA), an imported daughter of Stravinsky.

She traces back to legendary matriarch Fanfreluche, so Turbo Miss will be a most appealing broodmare prospect when her racing days are done.

Ballet D'Amour was on-sold in 2015 with James Harron Bloodstock purchasing her for $100,000 at the Inglis Broodmare Sale. She is now in the ownership of Mrs Belinda Bateman and is based at Newgate Farm, who sold her current yearling, a filly by Smart Missile, for $300,000 at Magic Millions to China Horse Club.

Ballet D'Amour produced a colt by Group I VRC Australian Guineas winner Wandjina last spring and then missed to Exceed and Excel.

The colt by Wandjina pictured above has been entered by Newgate Farm for the upcoming Inglis Weanling Sale.

Turbo Miss is the 24th stakes-winner for Widden Stud's flagship sire Sebring, who has a phenomenal draft of 35 for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale next month, click here to see them.
