Winning Run to ‘Catch’ Your Attention

Media Release - Monday February 27
The awesome run being enjoyed by graduates of Coolmore Australia continued over the weekend with Group I wins for horses raised and grazed at Jerrys Plains at both Caulfield and Randwick.

Catchy wins the Blue Diamond- Grant CourtneyIt has become the norm for Winx to achieve the extraordinary, and her victory in the Gr.1 Chipping Norton Stakes on Saturday extends her winning sequence to 15 and her career tally of stakes race wins to 17. Foaled and raised at Coolmore for John and Deb Camilleri of Fairway Thoroughbreds, Winx is the winning-most graduate of the farm in terms of Gr.1 wins with a staggering 10 wins at the highest level.

At Caulfield, unbeaten Fastnet Rock filly Catchy is doing her own passable impression of Winx, coming from nowhere at the top of the straight to snatch the Gr.1 Blue Diamond Stakes, with the third and fourth placings also being filled by Coolmore graduates in Formality (Fastnet Rock) and Tulip (Pierro) respectively.

"The Blue Diamond result was incredible for the farm," said Coolmore Bloodstock Sales Manager Shane McGrath.

"The elite two year-old is the holy grail for Australian breeders, so to have a situation where three of the first four placings in Victoria's only Gr.1 for two year-olds were filled by horses bred at Coolmore is quite an achievement for the farm, our team and our clients."

"There is so much to look forward to not only with the aforementioned fillies, but also the likes of farm graduate Omei Sword (High Chaparral) who was a real eye-catcher resuming behind La Diosa (So You Think) in the Gr.2 Surrond Stakes. She looks a strong candidate for a race like the Gr.1 Coolmore Classic in a couple of weeks, while other graduates such as Man From Uncle (Uncle Mo), Comin' Through (Fastnet Rock) and Inference (So You Think) are pointed towards Gr.1 Guineas this weekend," added McGrath.

* Catchy , Formality and Omei Sword are recent examples of top-class horses to have been offered for sale by Coolmore Australia at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale. Coolmore Australia will offer an intriguing draft of 32 yearlings for the 2017 renewal of the world-famous sale, click here to see the draft.
