Half
a dozen juvenile heats at the Rosehill barrier trials on Tuesday morning held
plenty of interest with the fastest two year-old winner validating the form of
Golden Slipper favourite She Will Reign.
She Will Reign made all the news from the Warwick Farm trials last Monday when
she blitzed her rivals to win by nine lengths in scorching time.
Chasing her home for second in that trial was Your Song filly Songlike, who
showed she has more to offer with this dominant trial win at her second public
outing.
The Bjorn Baker trained filly jumped well but was happy to take a sit behind
tearaway leader Didn't Mention It and when asked to chase and go forward by Jason
Collett did so with enthusiasm.
She lengthened stride and sped past the leader to win by two lengths covering
the 900 metres in 53.60 seconds.
A $50,000 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale purchase from the Widden Stud
draft for Bjorn Baker/ Blandford Bloodstock, Songlike is entered for several
feature races at The Championships.
She is the third foal of Mabkhara, an Anabaa (USA) half-sister to Group III
placed Lucky Eighty Eight from the Asawir branch of the Easy Date family that
has produced Group I winners Rewaaya and Ertijaal.
The Sebring yearling filly from Mabkhara sold at the Ingis Classic Yearling
Sale on Saturday night fetching $150,000 to the bid of Lindsay Park Bloodstock.
Gary Moore is no stranger to success with a Stratum having prepared talented
sprinter Takedown to win over $1.5 million in prizemoney with Group I success
in the WATC Winterbottom Stakes.
He produced expensive Stratum colt Solar Patch to win his heat with a strong
finishing run to beat Reflectivity (All Too Hard), who went down by a nose at
his only start last year in the $150,000 Golden Gift at Rosehill.
A $600,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Widden Stud draft for George Moore
Bloodstock / Gary Moore Racing, Solar Patch was the most expensive yearling by
his sire sold in 2016 and is entered for the Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes
as is Reflectivity.
He is a full brother to Group II winner Running Tall and sibling to Group I
placed Sensibility and stakes-placed Ephemera being from terrific producer
Fleeting Touch (USA).
Other two year-old trial winners were Za Zi Bar (All Too Hard), Acqume (Sepoy),
Paper Trade (Written Tycoon) and Mr Kylin (More Than Ready (USA).
