Seven Length Stakes-Winner for The Factor

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 6
Newgate Farm's charismatic grey shuttler The Factor (USA) posted his third stakes-winner in the US at the weekend with the Wesley Ward trained filly Delphinia bolting away with the $50,000 Cincinnati Trophy at Turfway Park for Stonestreet Stables.

The FactorSecond on debut at Keeneland in October and then an easy winner on the turf at Gulfstream in December, Delphinia gave her rivals a galloping lesson in her first stakes assignment.

She powered away to win the six and a half furlong sprint by seven lengths.

The Cincinnati Trophy Stakes is a local prep race for the Group III Bourbonette Oaks, a race on the path to the Group I Kentucky Oaks.

Delphinia was a $250,000 Fasig Tipton July Sale yearling purchase, who then made $510,000 as a two year-old last year.

She is the best of three winners from Ramblin Rosie, a half-sister to Group I winner Buddy Gil.

The Factor also had a smart winner at Santa Anita on Sunday with stakes-placed three year-old colt Cistron saluting over a mile on turf, his second win from five starts.

With his first crop of yearlings being offered in Australia this year The Factor is putting together a tidy record with his first US runners that are now three year-olds.

He has had 18 first crop winners to date in the Northern Hemisphere, three of them stakes-winners headed by Group I winner Noted and Quoted and a further three stakes-placed.

A dual Group I winning son of War Front, The Factor had yearlings sell for up to $240,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale and has eight youngsters to be offered at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale starting on Saturday night, click here to see them.
