$800,000 for Forever Loved Sister

Media Release - Monday January 30

A powerful overseas racing operation's New Zealand wish came true at Karaka on Monday.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum secured a filly from the famed Eight Carat family out the Cambridge Stud draft when he went to $800,000 to secure a daughter of High Chaparral.

High Chaparral filly from Diamond Like - Trish DunnellThe youngster (Lot 130) is out of Diamond Like, a stakes winning daughter of Danehill and the dual Group One Australasian Oaks and AJC Sires' Produce Stakes winner Tristalove.

"She was the one we wanted and we've been trying for a long time to get into this family," the Sheikh's Victorian-based racing manager Tim Stakemire said.

"They don't come on to the market very often and it was well-documented that Sir Patrick was selling exclusively here and not holding anything back."

The filly is a sister to the Gr.2 Blazer Stakes winner Forever Loved and a half-sister to four other winners, including the Gr.3 Premier's Cup winner Zephyron.

"You get the more classic types here and the sprinting types in Australia," Stakemire said. "We're happy to be supporting this sale.

"She'll be going to Australia, but we're not sure who will be training her yet."

Successful vendor Sir Patrick Hogan said he rated the daughter of High Chaparral as his top filly at Karaka.

"I'm very happy – that was my reserve so I got exactly what I wanted." – NZ Racing Desk.
