Trainer Bjorn Baker has announced the retirement of three-year-old colt Winning Rupert.
Baker's speedster was last seen finishing fourth in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m) earlier this month as an odds-on favourite but it was revealed post-race that the colt had a bone chip in a fore knee that would require surgery.
Winning Rupert was ruled out until the spring but a deal to sell the son of Written Tycoon to Newgate Farm has since been finalised which has brought forward retirement.
In a post on twitter, Baker said Winning Rupert was the "fastest horse I have had anything to do with."
Winning Rupert, whose racetrack record ends with five wins from six starts, is set to join a stallion roster that includes Group I winners Capitalist, Criterion and Dissident.
