Aquis
Farm's Benfica produced a very sharp winner at Wyong on Sunday with the
Godolphin runner Eusebio scoring easily as a hot favourite.
Lonhro's Group I winning son Benfica was previously based at Darley and their
homebred three year-old gelding Eusebio looks to have a bright future judging
by this dominant win.
Prepared by John O'Shea, Eusebio was second at his only two runs in the spring,
but was a stronger horse this time around.
He settled back in the field for Brenton Avdulla and motored to the line to win
the 1200 metre maiden by two and a half lengths eased down with ears pricked.
Eusebio is a half-brother to Group II winner Deferential and is the fourth winner
for Quest for Fame (GB) mare Talent Time, who died in 2015.
He looks a bright prospect for Benfica, who has been well received at Aquis
Farm in Queensland covering 87 mares which is his biggest book to date.
