California Chrome Honored With Second Horse Of The Year Award

North America's all-time leading money earner, California Chrome, was honoured for the second time as North America's Horse Of The Year when voting was announced at the 46th Annual Eclipse Awards.

The winner in 2014, California Chrome added the Dubai World Cup and Pacific Classic in 2016 in a season where he won 7 of 8 starts to take his earnings to $14,502,650.

All the categories saw clear cut winners. The closest result came in the Champion Male Turf Horse where Flintshire polled 137 votes to Highland Reel's 76.

Four former shuttle stallions, Unbridled's Song, Medaglia d'Oro, Henny Hughes and Gio Ponti featured among the winners.
