Stud's Star Witness added a new stakes-winner to his tally in South Africa on
the weekend with three year-old colt Lord Balmoral taking out the Listed
Fairview Wines Sophomore Sprint at Kenilworth on Saturday.
Trained by Vaughan Marshall, Lord Balmoral ran out an easy length and
three-quarter winner of the 1200 metre sprint and has now three of seven
starts.
Offered by Yarraman Park at the 2015 Inglis Classic Summer Book, Lord Balmoral
was knocked down to Balmoral Stud / Heritage Bloodstock for $53,000.
He becomes the fourth winner from four to race for Balmoral Belle, a
half-sister by Zabeel to former smart stayer Scouting Wide and hails from a
family not lacking in quality middle distance performers.
The current yearling from Balmoral Belle, another colt by Star Witness was
bought by McEvoy Mitchell Racing at Magic Millions for $240,000 from the
Kenmore Lodge draft.
Lord Balmoral is the seventh stakes-winner for
Star Witness, whose progeny averaged $192,788 in Book I of the Magic Millions
Yearling Sale.
