Stewards had to send out a message to halt the presentation while they heard a protest on Saturday's Magic Millions Trophy (2200m) at the Gold Coast.
Stratum Star's connections were clustered around the dais in the mounting yard when they learned Micheal Hellyer, the rider of the runner-up Feltre, protested against the winner alleging interference at the 300m.
Hellyer, who replaced Paul Hammersley as Feltre's rider, alleged Stratum Star took his running when he shifted out early in the straight, which he estimated cost him more than a length, before the runner-up closed late to get within a long neck of the winner on the line.
Stratum Star's rider Damian Lane told stewards Feltre ($19) had the opportunity to improve on his outside and the winner's shift did not impede the runner-up while winning trainer Darren Weir said the winner was holding the second horse on the line despite giving away 7kg.
Stewards took little time to dismiss the objection, clearing the way for those that backed Stratum Star from $4.60 to $3.60 on track to collect.
The result meant Weir took his Magic Millions raceday streak to three after Lucky Hussler won last year's Magic Millions Cup (1400m) and Mahuta claimed the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas last year.
"It's nice when you've got nice horses to bring and I've been lucky enough to bring the right horses and they have been in the right shape and got the right rides," Weir said.
"It doesn't happen that often."
Stratum Star won the Group I Kingston Town Classic (1800m) in Perth at his last start on December 3 but Weir said his Warrnambool team played a key role in getting the five-year-old ready for his first run over further than 2200m.
"This horse is in great shape and since Perth, he's done a lot of work. He had three trials in a week not that long ago to keep him right up to the mark," Weir said.
"He such a tough horse. Two trials in one day and then six days later another trial.
"We really had him in the right shape to run this meeting."
Another Victorian-trained galloper Payroll was three-quarters of a length away third.
