MM Sire Averages – Day Two

Tara Madgwick - Thursday January 12
Darley's champion sire Exceed and Excel maintained his place at the top of the sires list by average after the second session at Magic Millions, but Woodside Park's Victorian based powerhouse Written Tycoon is nipping at his heels.

Exceed and Excel has had six yearlings average $372,500, but no improvement on his best result to date from Wednesday, the filly from Girl Hussler that made $500,000.

Written Tycoon has jumped up the list with five yearlings averaging $352,000 headed by a cracking colt from Pearl Goddess that was offered by Widden Stud and made $650,000 to the bid of James Harron Bloodstock.

He came with a pinhooking story, which can be read here.

Widden Stud's dual Group I winning first season sire Zoustar moved into the Top 10 with 20 yearlings averaging $265,250 and leads the way among the freshman sires.

His best result came on Thursday with a colt (pictured above) from Rossarita fetching $510,000 for Sledmere Stud when snapped up by David Redvers/ Mulcaster Bloodstock and not far behind was Turangga Farm's half-brother to MM 2YO Classic winner Falconic from Queen of the Falls that made $450,000 when bought by the same partnership.
