Swift Alliance's first crop proving winners

Breednet - Friday December 30
The quiet achievers in racing sometimes go unnoticed but Springview's Peter Smith has well and truly been taking note of the early accomplishments of his new stallion Swift Alliance.

Swift AllianceThe durable five times stakes winners was not given every opportunity when he retired to stud in 2011 - serving just seven mares with five live foals the result.

It's near impossible for a stallion to make his mark with such limited early chances but Swift Alliance is doing just that with all four of his Australian named foals making it to the track... and all winning!

The latest of those being Swift Response who was so impressive breaking her maiden at Lismore last week, the David Savins trained four-year-old jumping straight to front from an outside gate in a 1200m contest.

Always travelling sweetly, Swift Response straightened just a neck in front of her nearest rival but once challenged she was able to find another gear, drawing clear to win by a soft two lengths.

Just a few weeks previously Chief Advocate was also able to break his maiden, by 1 1/4 lengths at Rockhampton for the John Wittington stable. Meanwhile First Alliance was his sire's first winner at three whilst Righteous Cause was an eye-catching third at his only Australian run prior to being sold to Singapore... where he trialled very well just recently.

And so Swift Alliance, despite his limited opportunities, is showing he has what it takes to sire a winner, making him an ideal owner/breeder horse.

"I could not be more pleased with the start Swift Alliance has made," Peter Smith said, adding that the classy 11-year-old has settled in exceptionally well at Springview where he has served a good group of well credentialled mares.
