Widden Whinnies Online

Media Release - Friday December 23

The latest Summer version of our popular Widden Whinnies featuring our 2017 Magic Millions draft is now online.

Widden Stud, established in 1867, is Australia‘s most successful thoroughbred nursery and celebrates a unique milestone in 2017 – 150 years of operation.

Over the generations Widden has not only survived the Great Depression, fire, flood and even bushrangers - it has evolved and thrived to become a true Australian success story.

In the last racing season Widden was the leading vendor Group 1 winners in Australia - this followed on from a remarkable 2014/15 season where an amazing 10% of Group One races run in Australia were won by horses that were born & raised at Widden.

In the current racing season Widden raised (& or sale graduates) include Group 1 winners PRIZED ICON, YANKEE ROSE, STRATUM STAR & TAKEDOWN whilst we have had Group 1 performing colts SEABURGE & STAR TURN also perform exceptionally at the highest level.

Without the overwhelming support of our clients these achievements simply cannot be accomplished.

Not only are we celebrating our 150th year in 2017 but we will be launching the first crop yearling by our Champion 3yo's SHAMUS AWARD (Snitzel) & ZOUSTAR (Northern Meteor). Both stallions are incredibly exciting prospects and we can't wait to offer them at the major yearling sales ahead of us.
