One to Watch Wins Again

Tara Madgwick - Thursday December 15
A Breednet ‘One to Watch’ when scoring on debut last month, this royally bred Kiwi made it two wins in as many starts when saluting at Geelong on Thursday.

Crystal Fountain as a yearlingAs a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Champion 3YO Filly Serenade Rose, Crystal Fountain looks to have been very well bought from the 2015 NZB Premier Yearling Sale by James Bester Bloodstock.

Prepared by Lee and Anthony Freedman, three year-old Stravinsky (USA) filly Crystal Fountain was too good for the older mares in a Benchmark 64 event over 1221 metres to keep her unbeaten record intact.

A flashy bay with a white blaze she travelled strongly for Daniel Moor in second place and found the line strongly to score a determined half length victory.

A $180,000 purchase from the Cambridge Stud draft, she runs for Morning Rise Stud’s Robert McLure, James Bester and Coolmore, whose navy colours she carried.

Crystal Fountain is the first winner for Pride of Tralee, a half-sister by Redoute’s Choice to triple Group I winner Serenade Rose, who was also trained by Lee Freedman.

Cambridge Stud will offer the current yearling from Pride of Tralee, a filly by Tavistock at the 2017 NZB Premier Yearling Sale as Lot 350.
