With
their oldest progeny now four year-olds Hinchinbrook and Star Witness continue
to excel and are fast on the way to establishing themselves as legitimate older
leading sires, both featuring with smart winners at Happy Valley on Wednesday
from the stable of leading trainer John Moore.
Four year-old Hinchinbrook gelding Isaac broke through to win at his second
start over 1200 metres by a length and a quarter as favourite.
Isaac was a $40,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the draft of Kanangra Park and
won a barrier trial in February of this year for Kris Lees at Newcastle before
being switched to Hong Kong.
Isaac is the seventh winner from seven foals to race from good producer
Leyenda, whose current yearling, also a colt by Hinchinbrook will be offered at
the 2017 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale as
Lot 581.
Three year-old Star Witness gelding Sea Jade made it three wins from eight
starts when scoring easily over 1200 metres as favourite.
He led throughout and won by nearly three lengths in a dominant display.
A $150,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Widden Stud draft for George Moore
Bloodstock, Sea Jade is a half-brother to six other winners being from the good
producer Aristocracy, a stakes-placed Danehill (USA) half-sister to Group I
winners Bluebird the Word and Porto Rocca.
Star Witness and Hinchinbrook have each sired three HK winners from five
runners, which is encouraging given the importance of the HK market at our
Australasian yearling sales.
