A Spring in his Step

Tara Madgwick - Monday December 12
With increased prizemoney for country racing in New South Wales there has never been a better time to have a dabble as an owner/breeder as passionate Tamworth racing and breeding enthusiast Errol Leicht can attest.

In a Wink wins at SconeMr Leicht enjoyed a dream come true when his modestly bred filly In A Wink captured the Listed Denise's Joy Stakes at Scone in 2015 and was in the winner's circle at Gunnedah on Saturday with her two year-old full brother.

Trained at Scone by Justin McIntosh, In a Spring opened his account when leading all the way to win over 1000 metres by half a length.

In a Wink has won over $210,000 in prizemoney, so In a Spring has big shoes to fill, but he's on his way!

Both In a Wink and In a Spring are by More Than Ready (USA) son Ready As and are from five time winner Time Release, a Switch in time (IRE) grand-daughter of Group II winner Glamour Bay.

Time Release produced another lovely filly (pictured below) for Errol and Gwen Leicht this spring by Darley's blue-blooded young Exceed and Excel stallion Sidestep.

A Group II winner that was second to Overreach in a Golden Slipper, Sidestep has his first foals on the ground now and stands at a fee of $11,000.
