Gooree
Stud won the opening event at Canterbury on Friday evening with a lightly raced
James Cummings trained gelding from one of their favourite female families.
Bel Esprit three year-old Tactical Advantage was resuming from a lengthy spell
having not raced since December 29 last year, but with two recent barrier trial
wins under his belt was sharp and fit for his return.
He did everything right for Glyn Schofield and forged clear to win the 1100
metre maiden in the manner of a horse that will be winning more races.
"He's in for a good campaign, now that we've given him the time that he's
needed," said James Cummings.
"He's a promising customer."
A homebred for Gooree Stud, Tactical Advantage is the third winner from three
foals to race from Group III placed Encosta de Lago mare Above Perfection,
whose stakes-winning dam Actress comes from the family of $3million earner and
six-time Group I winner Desert War and Group I winner Laser Hawk.
Above Perfection has a yearling filly and colt foal by Gooree Stud bred and
Arrowfield Stud based sire Smart Missile.
