"We are thrilled to be given the opportunity to train Foundation for Highclere and their owners. He is clearly a high-class racehorse and if he can bring his best form to Australia he will be competitive in our feature races here." David Hayes
Highclere Thoroughbred Racing Chairman & Founder, Harry Herbert hopes that a change of environment at Hayes' state-of-the-art training facilities at Lindsay Park, Euroa, will help Foundation recapture the form which proved him as one of Europe's leading two-year-old colts in 2015.
"We are so excited to be adding Foundation to our roster of Australian horses and teaming up for the first time with the brilliant David Hayes. We have enjoyed some wonderful moments in Australia over the past few years and hope that Foundation will continue to fly the flag for Highclere under David's care."
Herbert added; "the Australian Thoroughbred Industry is thriving at present on the back of strong prizemoney increases in recent months, and we are excited to be adding a horse of Foundation's quality to our growing Australian roster which includes Group 2 Chairman's Stakes winner and NSW Stayer of the Year, Libran, as well as Regal Monarch who recently arrived and is now in training with Chris Waller."
Highclere's pale blue and navy armband silks will now be racing three top quality stayers into the 2017 Sydney Autumn Carnival and beyond, along with three-year-old gelding Knighthood in training with Hawkes Racing and two-year-old filly Pageantry with Freedman Racing, who are both in work with the plan to be racing early in the new year.
Highclere's success in Australia has led to increased demand for shares in recent years, on the back of a 42% winners to runners for the 2015/16 season.
The
team will be looking to purchase yearlings at the upcoming Magic Millions and
Inglis sales in 2017 to add to their growing Australian roster.
