Winning Debut for Dream Ahead Blueblood

Tara Madgwick - Friday December 2

Regally-bred Time Out Of Mind made his much awaited debut on Gosford's Thursday program and lived right up to his superior bloodlines by recording an authoritative victory at the first time of asking.

Dream AheadA 3-year-old son of Emirates Park shuttle stallion Dream Ahead (USA) produced by the stud's valuable broodmare Schiaparelli, Time Out Of Mind went in to his first public appearance fresh off two recent barrier trial successes at the very same track and proceeded to show how much he had learned from the experiences. Positioned on the shoulder of the leader from the outset, the quality colt then quickly assumed control of the contest at the top of the home straight before cruising to an impressive two-and-a-quarter length victory.

Time Out Of Mind was consigned by Emirates Park for the 2015 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale where he was purchased by Eric Lucas and Justin Bahen Bloodstock for $100,000. Now trained by Kris Lees on behalf of a group of owners that include Eric Lucas and members of the Ramsden family of Gurners Bloodstock fame, the Dream Ahead colt turned in a flawless performance and is clearly capable of much bigger and better things.

Indeed, Time Out Of Mind is bred to win major black-type events. The eighth foal of a supremely-bred daughter of Woodman (USA), the extremely promising colt is a half-brother to Group 2 winner and established Queensland-based sire Rothesay. In addition, second-dam of the talented youngster is the multiple Group 1 winning racemare Canny Lass, the celebrated full-sister of the Champion racehorse and sire Canny Lad.

Time Out Of Mind is the second impressive debut winner for Dream Ahead in a matter of weeks. The Bob Peters bred and raced Awaken recently scored by four lengths in maiden company at Bunbury in Western Australia and is equally well-bred, hailing from the immediate family of Australian Horse of the Year, Typhoon Tracy.
