The Peter and Paul Snowden trained colt had one start back in June finishing unplaced, but has returned this time a much stronger individual.
France put the writing on the wall with a recent barrier trial win and
performed up to his trackwork and pedigree when charging home to snatch a
narrow win over El Venetian."He's a brilliant horse to work with and of course is well related. These sorts of horses I've had in the past go on to become pretty handy," Peter Snowden said.
"He copped a bit of interference – the second horse came out underneath him and gave him a bit of a bump but he did a good job.
"He's come back a better, stronger horse now. He trialled well at Gosford and just has a fantastic attitude."
France is raced by a syndicate that includes Newgate Farm, his breeder John Kelly and the China Horse Club in whose colours he runs.
The colt is a full brother to Newhaven Park's former star mare Peeping, who won the Group I ATC Coolmore Classic earlier this year before tragically losing her life to colic.
France is the second living foal and second winner for Group II winning Encosta de Lago mare Miss Marielle, who has a yearling colt by Sebring headed for Inglis Easter 2017 and produced a filly by Medaglia D'Oro (USA) this spring.
Newhaven Park sold the current two year-old from Miss Marielle, a colt by More Than Ready (USA), at Inglis Easter this year for $500,000 to Vinery Stud.
