Time for War in Demand - Star Foals

Media Release - Sunday November 27
Although we are approaching the end of November Kitchwin Hills is still a hive of activity, especially the covering shed, where Time For War is covering his second book of mares.

The first crop of foals by the sire hit the ground this spring and the farm's Mick Malone believes they are the reason the son of Snitzel's book is nearing three figures.

"The first foals have been better than we could have dreamed for," he said. "He's really stamping them, but he's also giving them great scope and athleticism. Breeders have seen what he's throwing and have voted with support!

"When a stallion covers more mares in his second season than his first, it shows proof is in the pudding.

"At the end of August we would have only had 30-odd mares booked, but as his foals hit the ground, like us, breeders just had to send a mare or two.

Malone added: "You have to remember he was a November foal, but that didn't stop him being precocious. He made his debut before he'd actually turned two. And what can you say about his sire Snitzel? He's just phenomenal and I feel Time For War is the closest thing to him in the Hunter.

"He isn't a horse we are nervous about using in November because he's naturally throwing size, massive hips and shoulder, progeny that will be forward and precocious at the early sales. And most importantly, he's super fertile."

Time For War's sister will be offered as part of the Arrowfield draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in January.

Her sire Snitzel is having another stellar season, with 59 individual winners, headed by seven stakes winners, including French Emotion and Russian Revolution.
