More Stakes Success for Nicconi Filly

Classy Nicconi filly Caipirinha cast off maiden status last month with a stylish victory in the Listed WATC Belgravia Stakes and added another stakes win to her tally when taking out the Listed WATC Placid Ark Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

A fading fifth in the Group II WATC Champion Fillies Stakes over 1600 metres at her previous start, the Simon Miller trained filly appreciated a drop back to 1200 metres for this assignment.

NicconiShe led throughout and romped in to win by two and a quarter lengths, her overall record now two wins and four placings from eight starts with prizemoney topping $200,000.

A $47,500 Magic Millions purchase from the Riversdale draft for the McRostie's, Caipirinha runs in the colours of Barry and Jan McRostie who have enjoyed much success with multiple Group II winner Miss Rose De Lago.

She is the first foal of Prostar, a half-sister by Starcraft to Group III winner Collate.

She is one of three stakes-winners this season for Widden Stud's Nicconi, who has developed into a highly reliable source of winners and is priced at great value this spring at $11,000.
