It was a red letter day for Ridgeview Park Stud's Onemorenomore on Saturday, the up and coming young stallion represented by no less than four winners in four different states including a new stakes winner.
Always travelling sweetly in the Listed Ascot Gold Cup, the Lou Luciani trained Tonto sat second in the running of the 1800m contest, showing plenty of heart to wear down the leader, finding the line in determined style.
Unlucky when caught up in traffic at his previous run in the Listed Northam Cup, Tonto recorded the seventh win of his consistent 31 start career, one that has seen him amass over $440,000 in stakes.
Riding the bay for the first time, Jason Brown was impressed by the style of Tonto's victory.
"When I asked him for an effort he really dug deep. He was strong to the line and took a lot of pulling up. You would think going into the carnival that he will be competitive in whatever he runs in."
Meanwhile at Rosehill in-form four-year-old Darts Away recorded his second impressive victory in a row, dashing up along the rails in the 1400m Highway Handicap.
Winning by two lengths with plenty in hand, Darts Away has trainers Barbara Joseph and Paul Jones excited.
"We have always had a big opinion of him," said Jones. "But he contracted a virus in autumn so we bit the bullet and put him in the paddock. Since he's been back he has been flying."
Onemorenomore had another nice metropolitan winner in the shape of Something More who raced clear to win a 1400m contest at Morphettville by just short of a length.
It was the second city win for the lightly raced Jon O'Connor trained three-year-old and the best is still to come for her.
"She is getting tougher as she goes on," O'Connor said, adding that Something More will have just one more run before a break in preparation for Adelaide's autumn carnival - the Group One Australasian Oaks a target.
"She has that bit of quality about her."
Rounding off Onemorenomore's quartet of impressive winners was Happy No More who really looks the goods on the strength of a dominant 2 1/4 length debut victory at the Gold Coast.
Represented by 37 winners since the start of the season, Onemorenomore is proving a reliably consistent stallion and Ridgeview could not be happier to have him on their roster.
"He is a lovely stallion who impresses all who see him," said the stud's Phil Sloane.
"He has settled in beautifully with us and has been a delight to have around."
"His progeny are winning week in, week out and he is the ideal VOBIS horse," he said of the Group One Champagne Stakes winning son of Red Ransom.
Ridgeview are offering a 'nearing the end of spring' special with a half-price service fee to both Onemorenomore and Al Samer who has also been enjoying a good run with his daughter Peeking Duck (a gallant fourth in the VRC Oaks) looking a horse of the future.
