Aquis Farm sires were all making news on the weekend with Domesday and Holy
Roman Emperor (IRE) siring Group winners on Saturday in Heart Starter and
Sheidel, while the young gun Benfica chimed in with a winner of his own on
Sunday.
A Group I winning son of Lonrho, Benfica sired progressive three year-old filly
Benfica Princess to win at the Sunshine Coast.
Trying 1600 metres for the first time, Benfica Princess found the line strongly
to win by half a length making up for her luckless third at the Gold Coast at
her previous start.
Benfica Princess is the third winner for Made of Gold (USA) mare Made of
Dreams, who treaces in tail female line to champion mare Emancipation.
She is the fourth winner from less than 20 runners for Benfica, whose oldest progeny
are just three year-olds
Benfica stands at a fee of $4,400.
