Owner breeder Kon Papanicolaou was keen to send us a picture of this lovely filly by Melbourne Cup hero Americaine (USA) from his promising Pins broodmare Fish Dive (NZ), who comes from the Tupelo Honey family that has produced Group I stars such as Domino, Hero, Sale of the Century and Linky Dink.
Mr Papanicolaou sold a Master of Design filly from Fish Dive at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale last year through the Amarina Farm draft and she fetched $45,000 to the bid of W Harrison / Paul Willetts Bloodstock.
Now with Tony McEvoy and named Miss Wahoo, she gained Black Type at her very first start when finishing a good third in the Listed MRC Inglis Debutant Stakes and will back up on Saturday in the $250,000 Inglis Banner.
She has drawn well in gate four and has Kerrin McEvoy to ride.
Mr Papanicolaou is hoping Miss Wahoo can go right on with it as he has retained Fish Dive’s first foal Monaco Girl, who will be covered by her sire Master of Design with the thought of producing a three-quarter sibling.
Fish Dive will have a change of pace and visit Cox Plate hero Shamus Award.
Footnote: Mr Mr Papanicolaou also raced Group III ATC Adrian Knox Stakes winner Candelara, who has been retired to stud and covered by Not a Single Doubt.
