Former
Emirates Park shuttler Harbour Watch became the second first season sire to get
on the board in Australia after Harnova won on debut on Monday.
Starting an $11 chance, the Neil Godbolt trained gelding fought out a two horse
battle down the straight with odds-on favourite Mr Grumpy and prevailed by a half-length,
with nearly eight lengths back to the third horse.
Harnova, which wasn't offered at sale, is out of an un-raced Carnegie mare,
Carnova who has left three winners from three runners now, all adept at two
with Al Nova (Al Samer) winning twice as a juvenile and Artova (Artie Schiller)
winning four races last season at two.
It is also the family of former champion German stayer Mamool, once a visitor
to our shores for the Melbourne Cup in 2004.
Harbour Watch only stood two season at Emirates Park where he had moderate support
with books of 65 in 2013 and 67 in 2014.
He has enjoyed a solid start to the European season too with 12 winners so far including
the Gr.2 French winner Tis Marvellous.
