He's Our Rokkii has been unstoppable since capturing a pair of stakes races in Sydney last autumn and the 4yo gelding completed a wonderful day for the Lindsay Park operation when earning his first win at the highest level in Saturday's $500,000 Group I Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield.
The son of Roc De Cambes was one of four stakes-winners on the day for Lindsay Park and the first Group 1 win for the new partnership of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig.
"It's a special day," David Hayes said.
"It's Ben's first Group one winner. We've been in eight Group ones this year and either been second or placed in all of them, so it's good to win one."
It was also the third winner on the day and the second Group I after Divine Prophet in the $1million Caulfield Guineas.
Given a ground-saving ride from an inside barrier, He's Our Rokkii needed some clean air to be a factor and Dunn found a seam between runners to hit the front in the closing stages.
"I was getting sucked into a pretty ordinary spot," Dunn said.
"It was like Alcatraz, I had to get out of there. The tempo wasn't as hot as I thought it would be."
A heavily backed favourite, He's Our
It advances his overall record to 7 wins, 3 seconds and 1 third from 16 starts with earnings of $712,196.
Hayes indicated the $2 million Group 1 Emirates Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on November 5 will be the final start for the 4yo gelding this spring.
