Pride has had a lot of success with star sprinters Terravista, Tiger Tees and
Ball of Muscle and produced a debut winner for their family at Warwick Farm on
Monday by ill-fated Northern Meteor.
Three year-old colt Chapelco had been to the trials on four occasions winning
his last appearance on September 23 at Warwick Farm.
Drawn 10 in the 1300 metre maiden, he was supported in betting from $20 into
$12 and raced up on the pace for Tim Clarke before kicking on to win by a neck.
Not offered at auction, Chapelco is a half-brother to New Zealand Group I
winner Il Quello Veloce and stakes-winner Donna Cattiva being the seventh
winner from seven to race from unraced Gold Brose mare Nishaani, a
three-quarter sister to legendary producer Parfore.
The 2015 NZ Broodmare of the Year, Parfore is the dam of Group I winners
Terravista, Tiger Tees, Super Easy (Singapore) and Group II winner Ball of
Muscle and stakes-winner Our Lukas.
Sadly, both Parfore and Nishaani have both died this year, Nishaani leaving
behind a Zoustar yearling filly as her final foal.
From the last crop of foals by Northern Meteor, Chapelco is in the right stable
to excel and if he's anything like his family will only be getting better as
time goes on.
