Global Glamour Well Named

Owned by almost 40 women spread over seven countries, Global Glamour is the new pin up girl for the world first female ownership promotion, Magic Millions Racing Women.

"It's like a dream come true," one of the syndicate organisers Anna Seitz beamed from Kentucky after cheering home her star racehorse at about 1.30am.

"We are just having the best fun. We spoke yesterday and thought if she could run third and be Group One placed it would be incredible - but to win, it's amazing."

Seitz, a member of the international sales company Fasig-Tipton, was in Australia for the Gold Coast Yearling Sale and learned of the Magic Millions Racing Women promotion to boost female ownership.

"I was on the bus one morning going in to the sale and I was chatting to Elaine Lawlor (of Goffs) and we decided to find a horse and form a syndicate to take part in the promotion."

"What a wonderful idea from Katie Page-Harvey - the world had never seen anything like it. Our bloodstock manager James Bester was then left in charge of finding the right horse."

"We picked out a few and tried to buy an Uncle Mo filly who turned out to be Conchita, and then James told me to come down on the Saturday night after the races and look at a Star Witness filly."

The filly, Lot 633, was a member of the O'Brien family's Lauriston Thoroughbred Farm draft from Victoria and she looked a likely type.

"To be honest I didn't know a lot about the sire Star Witness, in fact the whole pedigree page didn't mean a lot to me being an American - but James said what he liked and I trusted him."

"The filly herself was a good type. She wasn't really big, but she was well put together,had a really goodhindquarter and a nice walk."

The rest they say is history. The hammer fell on Bester's bid at just $65,000 and the "It's All About the Girls" Syndicate was born.

"We managed to put together a sensational syndicate - we have representatives from many sales companies around the world - there's almost 40 owners from seven countries."

Seitz has taken on the Australian idea of all female syndicates and is now doing the same in the United States with success - a multiple Group Three winner in her team.

"We've had some great success with cheaper horses - the group winner here in America was a US$20,000 buy and now Global Glamour a Group One winner at $65,000!"

While connections ponder the immediate future for Global Glamour, her international owners are organising for the Flight Stakes trophy to fly to each country so all owners can get photos with the Group One prize!

Global Glamour completed a stakes winning treble at Randwick for Magic Millions graduates following the successes of Khan and Moqueen.

Khan will be out to follow in the hoofsteps of his stablemate Capitalist after a highly impressive debut win in today's listed Breeders' Plate (1000m).

Parked fifth for much of the race, the flashy youngster came with a perfectly timed run under Blake Shinn to lead home a Magic Millions trifecta result in the time honoured juvenile event.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Khan was purchased by James Harron for $260,000 at January's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Glenlogan Park draft.

"He has a pedigree that suggests he will get a lot further and he probably showed that today when the further he went the better he got," Peter Snowden said."He is a very exciting colt and he has the ability to match those looks."

The Exceed and Excel colt is from an unraced Daylami half sister to Manighar, an international group performer who was shipped to Australia to win an Australian Cup, BMW and Ranvet Stakes.

Moqueen will head to Melbourne with Oaks ambitions after a hugely impressive win in the listed Dulcify Handicap (1600m) at Randwick.

A member of the Anthony Cummings stable, Moqueen came with a strong finish in the centre of the track for an easy length and a quarter win.

The first Australian stakes winner by hot young international sire Uncle Mo, Moqueen was purchased for just $47,000 from the Coolmore Stud draft at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Cummings said the VRC Oaks would be the filly's main aim this preparation and she would now head to Melbourne with races like the Ethereal Stakes and Caulfield Classic listed as possible stepping stones.

Moqueen is a half sister to the stakes performers Beauty Express and Money Rocks - all of them out of the group placed Bite the Bullet mare Money Begets Money.
