The cancellation of Monday's Cranbourne trials is unlikely to affect dual Group I winner Tarzino's performance in Saturday's Group I Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
Heavy rain forced the cancellation of Monday's 24 heats at Cranbourne at which Tarzino was scheduled to have his first hit-out of his spring campaign.
Trainer Mick Price said the loss of the trials wouldn't worry the son of Tavistock, who is set to be short of peak fitness for Saturday's $500,000 event.
"It's not going to affect him at all because I wasn't going to have him gunned up for the Memsie anyway," Price said.
"It might even help him, who knows?
"He sticks on to his same program and it's not that important where we start, it's more important where we finish with him.
"He'll go to the races fresh and he'll race well fresh."
Price said Tarzino would gallop on the course proper at Caulfield on Tuesday morning.
Tarzino is the $15 favourite in Sportsbet's current Caulfield Cup market while the betting agency has him as a $26 chance to win the Cox Plate.
